viscom 2020: join-in trade show preview

Being strong and better together – this ambition made a trade show trio out of viscom, PSI and PromoTex Expo last year. Together they are the World of Advertising and Selling. 2020 will see the continuation of this successful concept now in optimised form. For visitors, in concrete terms, this means: shorter distances and concentrated expertise. In terms of content this young family of events is connected by sustainability, to name but one theme.

viscom to move

In future, signmakers, printers, luminous advertisers, media designers, stand builders and shop fitters as well as wrappers will be able to discover efficient printing technologies and resource-saving processes in Hall 13. This is where viscom has found its new home. It is directly accessible via entrances Ost and Nord-Ost and located in the immediate vicinity of PromoTex Expo and PSI. Two walkways create a direct connection thereby ensuring optimal visitor flows. As before, admission to the three trade shows will be exclusively restricted to accredited trade visitors and PSI members.

PromoTex Expo will move to Hall 12 and thereby shifting closer to PSI again. “The optimised allocation of hall space allows us to maintain the independence of PromoTex Expo within the alliance, on the one hand, and to ensure the proximity with PSI called for by the market,” says Event Director Petra Lassahn accounting for this move and adds: “Upon the request of both exhibitors and visitors we will already be implementing this adjustment in 2020 and, hence, one year earlier than planned.”

At the signmaker’s workshop

viscom is host to a range of exciting features: centre stage is the Workshop, which will occupy even more space this year following its successful debut in 2019. Instead of just watching, joining in the action is called for. On their tour of the trade show visitors will have the opportunity to wrap walls, print personalised wallpaper digitally, large-format posters or banners and to produce illuminated letters and tenter frames. Experienced digital printers and signmakers from the online platform Signforum24 will share tips and tricks and invite visitors to a lively exchange. Room for one-on-one conversations will also be provided by the matchmaking area while a job exchange will allow employers to find staff.

Proving a special attraction will be the special area “Mach Dein Shirt/Make your Shirt”. It uses T-shirt finishing as an example to highlight the commonalities of the three trade shows. Visitors will be able to follow every single step on site – from the generation of the print or embroidery motif, to the finishing processes and the finished top. At the same time, they are given the opportunity to come up with their own design and to then design their personal T-shirt. Additionally, they can try out the new machinery, materials, processes and applications of international producers and distributors in a hands-on and experience-focused way. Key exhibitors such as Mimaki, Epson, DP Solutions, Mutoh Europe, Promic, Print Equipment, Trotec Laser Deutschland and vhf camfacture have already confirmed their participation. Returnees to the trade show include Fuchs Display, TheMagicTouch and Shannon Machines but there are also numerous new exhibitors featured at viscom. These include Rehse Reklame, Printspaul, Flyvision or Trisco.
