Kresa and Martir: why technology is a creative catalyst

In very different ways, ISE 2019’s keynote speakers will both show how the creative use of technology can bring live events to life, and deliver unforgettable experiences for audiences.
The Opening Address will centre around the creation of a spectacular projection mapping sculpture, which is receiving its world premiere at ISE 2019. The Closing Keynote – which promises to be a unique visual treat of a different kind – will show and tell how AV technology can transform a speaker’s presentation in an auditorium.
Master projection designer Bart Kresa will present the Opening Address on Monday 4 February. He will talk about the creation of his new projection mapping sculpture Sviatovid, whose world premiere will take place at a ‘reveal’ ceremony at 16:00 on Tuesday 5 February.
Sviatovid is an angular, 5m tall projection sculpture, which will set a new benchmark in audiovisual art. It will be illuminated through 360° using four Panasonic PT-RQ32 4K 30,000-lumen laser projectors. It is the successor to the iconic Shogyo Mujo, which debuted at the Burning Man Festival of Arts in Las Vegas in 2017.
Kresa has over 20 years of industry experience and the BARTKRESA studio has won numerous event and themed entertainment awards, including those from AV Magazine, Biz Bash, IAAPA and the Themed Entertainment Association. BKS clients include: Universal Studios, Disney, ABC, HBO, Fox, General Motors, Warner Bros, The Grammy Awards, Playboy, Bulgari and T-Mobile.
The Opening Address will take place on 4 February from 18:00-19:00 in the RAI Forum.
On the last day of ISE 2019, the Closing Keynote will be given by Tupac Martir, Creative Director and founder of Satore Studio, a 25-strong multidisciplinary art, design and creative production group based in London, and co- founder of the studio’s sister venture Satore Tech.
Internationally acclaimed as a multimedia artist, visual designer and creative director, Martir’s keynote will be about “using the tools that I would use on a regular basis, if someone asked me to design their keynote”. He also intends to talk about some recent project work: “I’ll try to show it in a way that is a bit out of the ordinary,” he said.
Satore has its own team of developers in house which it uses to benefit clients, which include brands such as Adidas, BMW, Dior and Ralph Lauren; venues including the Saatchi Gallery, the Barbican and the British Museum; and performers such as Elton John, Sting, Beyoncé and Imogen Heap. Before Satore, Martir’s practice in diverse fields including concerts, opera and television exposed him to numerous techniques and disciplines. “I’m someone who is very ‘techy’, I’m someone who is very artsy, I’m someone that’s trying to play with new technologies on a regular basis,” he added.
In a first for ISE, the Closing Keynote will feature live language interpretation available free to attendees. With technology and translation services provided by KUDO, audience members will be able to listen in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese or Japanese. Tupac Martir’s talk will be translated in real time and the language feeds will be available via KUDO’s intuitive app.
The Closing Keynote will take place on Friday 8 February from 12:00-13:00 in the RAI Forum.
