Roz Guarnori, Exhibitions Director, FESPA, comments: “After three successive years in Germany, we are looking forward to moving back to a Southern European host city in 2020. Madrid was a clear favourite among exhibitors and visitors when we canvased their opinions on preferred cities for a FESPA event. This enthusiasm for the host city, combined with the success of the FESPA Digital event in Barcelona in 2012, makes [...] Read more

5 th drupa Global Trends Report: positive mood in the printing industr...

Posted on: 17-04-2018

Printers and suppliers from the majority of market sectors reported growing confidence in their companies’ economic performance. The opportunity was taken this year to track patterns of performance over the years. Packaging remains the most buoyant market and there has been a steady improvement in confidence over the five years amongst Commercial printers. Functional printers were following a similar positive story but there was a puzzling increase in uncertainty this year for both printers and suppliers to this market. Publishing printers probably face the most challenging strategic changes and there is a decline in assurance this year, despite the reducing threat from E-books. [...] Read more

Flying drops printing 2000 products per minute

Posted on: 14-04-2018

At Label & Print 2018 in Zürich, Leibinger was recently presenting the flying ink drops: printing 2000 products per minute, or the JET3up industrial inkjet printer. At a bottling plant, a mineral water bottle speeds along a conveyor belt moving at 36 km/h. A few milliseconds later, the best-before date appears as if by magic on the bottleneck. This is made possible by Leibinger’s JET3up industrial inkjet printer, which prints up to 2000 products per minute with flying drops of ink. Information such as best-before date, batch number and data matrix codes have become an integral part of most products. You can find the small letters and graphics on water bottles, milk cartons and [...] Read more

Trade unions and a national newspaper are taking action to block this. Those high spirits in Britain are understandable. The island is just heading for independence from the EU, looks forward to reintroducing their own familiar blue passport and then it appears that 'their' printer seizes next to the order. Back to the British; the printer who is most obvious according to the islanders is the British secured-printing producer De La Rue. The order seems to go to, as French company described, Gemalto. It has a Dutch touch, [...] Read more
